The state of Karnataka has released a new set of COVID-19 guidelines in response to an increase in coronavirus infections. Today, the state registered 4991 new COVID-19 incidents.
Classes from grades 6 to 9 will be suspended, gyms and swimming pools will be closed, rallies and dharnas will be banned, and cinema halls will be limited to a maximum of 50% seating capacity, according to a state government notification.
Dr. Sudhakar K, the Minister of Health, also tweeted about the new guidelines, saying” In the Wake of the second wave of Covid 19, new guidelines have been formulated to contain the spread of infection. I urge all citizens to adhere to guidelines & join hands with govt to defeat the pandemic.” He also added, ” get Vaccinated and continue to follow appropriate behavior.”
The following are the main points from the new notification released by the Karnataka government:
- Classes 10, 11, and 12 will continue in their current format; however, attendance in person is not required.
- Except for classes required for Board/University exams in Health Sciences, all higher and vocational courses will be suspended.
- Except for students in Classes 10, 11, and 12, as well as students in higher and vocational courses, residential and boarding schools will be closed.
- In public transportation, the number of passengers must not exceed the seating capacity.
- Work from home should be practiced as much as possible in offices and workplaces.
- The number of customers in pubs, bars, clubs, and restaurants in Bengaluru’s urban and rural districts, including BBMP, Mysuru, Kalburgi, Dakshin Kannada, Udupi, Bidar, and Hubli-Dharwad, shall not exceed 50% of the capacity.
- In Bengaluru’s urban and rural districts, such as BBMP, Mysuru, Kalburgi, Dakshin Kannada, Udupi, Bidar, and Dharwad, alternate seating subject to a limit of 50% seating capacity will be required in cinema halls.
- Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) should be strictly enforced in shopping centers, closed markets, department stores, and other public places, such as requiring masks, physical separation, and the availability of hand sanitizer. If a breach occurs, the facility will be closed before the covid-19 outbreak has passed.
According to reports from Karnataka, 4,991 new Covid-19 cases have been registered, with 6 deaths, bringing the number to 10,06,229 cases. In Bengaluru, there are more than 22,000 active Covid cases.
